This ain’t your ordinary straw bag. WaiWai was born in 2015, founded by designer Leo Neves.
According to, "former stylist Leo Neves was inspired to launch his own handbag line after he saw the hand-crafted woven ornaments of local artisans while visiting the Brazilian coastal state of Bahia.

The label’s name comes from words derived from the languages of Brazil’s indigenous people and the bags are handmade in Rio, with some pieces taking more than three hours to create.
Since its launch in 2015, Wai Wai’s signature combination of colourful acrylics with woven wicker baskets has gathered a cult following. The talking-point pieces are not just for vacation – wear them all year round, for day or night."
